I have win 7 installed on its own HD. I just physically installed another new 500GB HD. When I go into disk management, it says I must initialize the disk with "use the following partition style for the selected disks" with "master boot record" checked off" do I just hit OK at this point and let it do its thing? If not, what should I do? I have 2 partitions I want to do as well and do I use MBR checked off on both?
thx

I haven't added a disk in Windows 7 yet...only installed in a VM and on a small old single drive. Since currently it's "Beta" and will stop working middle of this summer...requiring a format/reinstall, I'm not doing much with it. Too many important things to do middle of the summer besides grow pale reinstalling Windows.
With past operating systems, I always just "follow the bouncing ball" wizard that holds your hand through the steps since Windows XP.
MBR usually goes on the drive/partition that your OS is installed on. It's the part of the hard drive that tells Windows what to boot, and Where to boot from. Commonly we use C:\. I'm guessing that you wish your additional drives/partitions to be higher drive letters, and you aren't installing Windows to them...so I'd probably leave MBR checked off.

Do you buy new fresh unformatted, or retail?
