what would be the better comp to get

specs
Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1
AMD Athlon™ X2 dual-core processor 4050e
3GB DDR2 memory
320GB Serial ATA II hard drive (7200 rpm)
NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics
will replace fx card

or a dell $419
Vista® Home Premium Service Pack 1
Intel® Pentium® dual-core E5200
3GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz
320GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache
Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
again will replace the gfx card.

out of the two what one you you get?and why and on a side note will i lose any speed from what i have now?

1gb ddr ram
180 seagate hd
xp media ed

thanks for the help i would just build one but i dont think i buy the parts for as little as the builds are

If you get paid to take an e-machine, either sell it on Ebay or consider the payment a disposal fee and junk it in the local dump.

ya i wasnt going to use my current gfx card just trying to see what speed i will lose is my current p4 2.8 faster then a dual-core E5200 i know the new comp has more ram and better hd so they will be faster.

ya once i get the comp ill see what slot i have open then shop for a gfx card

The E5200 sjhould be faster, its a 2.5ghz dual core chip, doing more per clock than yours as well.

Not sure how much of a difference it will feel like, but its a better CPU.

The Dell has an Intel chipset and CPU, both combinations of that generation will be superior to the AMD e-machine.

spend a little more and get a quad core Inspiron.. I love mine. Added a XFX 8600GT for 50$ more and the ram for them is very cheap.. like 11$ a chip.

someone correct me if i am wrong, but having 3GB of ram is using one 1GB stick and one 2GB stick, so that would eliminate dual channel for the meomry, right ?

or even three 1Gb sticks would do the same ?

or should i shut my pie hole

from my understanding if you had 3 1 gb 2 would run in dual ch 1 wouldnt
1 stick at 1 gb and 1 stick at 2 gb i think your right not sure on that one but i think they have to be a matching pair

I believe they are setting it up with 2(1gig sticks) and 2 (512 sticks) ...thats just how dell usually sets their systems up to save money and charge you more for each single 1 gig chip - usually 50$ each. When I purchased my inspiron from them it came with 1 gig.. so it had two 512 chips.

I ended up taking both of them out and selling them to someone else.. and dropping in 4 1gig chips that I got from newegg for 11$ each.

i try to do the build at dell and at the military dell Premier site and both site come out to be more then urs lol

I disagree with the PSU, motherboard, ram and the HDD...

You can get a cheaper better HDD of WD Caviar 1T which have better reviews and with the screw up here recently of the firmware by seagate I'd wait a while before getting another.

For ram look at some OCZ or Corsair. And with the open box motherboard you might not get what you need as in parts cause thats usually all thats in it. No cables and everything. For a PSU - PC Power and Cooling FTW..I won't really buy anything else cause they are well built and have come down in prices too.

At least get 1066 MHz RAM so you can run the CPU at its normal FSB speed. Don't let the lure of cheapness to ever allow yourself to put an open box mobo in your cart.

I haven't had any probs with Open Box Parts, but I changed some of it last night anyways.

Changed Mobo, PSU as well as HDDs last night.
Just changed the Ram also.
I didn't put the 2 1TBs back in to keep the price down and comaparable to the Dell Machine.

That's what this site is here for though

He can sub. the mobo to one one of those for about $30 more also if he doesn't like the mATX.
Would give him the ability to add more RAM in the future also (with 64bit). Actually I think the 32bit is only going to 'see' 3gigs anyways.
