Tracert not working w/DLink 4300...

Post by Jeff_Stephen »

Hey everyone, been lurking about for the past few months and felt to get some advice from a few members on the board here. Apologies if this isn't the correct place for this thread but I just have to explain what's been going on lately.
I'm currently running a cable connection provided by both TWC & EL and they've been of no help. A tech came by recently and swapped the splitter and in case you're counting this is the 4th tech to stop by in as many weeks. While that may have helped for a few days the problem is happening once again. My connection continues to take a hit and slows down quite a bit. Now to get back on topic, for some odd reason tracert is not working at all while connected to my D-Link 4300. I've tested it in the past with a direct line from modem - PC and tracert worked fine. Here are my results...
Tracing route to http://www.l.google.com [216.239.37.99]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 * * * Request timed out.
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 * * * Request timed out.
5 * * * Request timed out.
6 * * * Request timed out.
7 * * * Request timed out.
8 * * * Request timed out.
9 * * * Request timed out.
10 * * * Request timed out.
11 * * * Request timed out.
12 * * * Request timed out.
13 * * * Request timed out.
14 15 ms * * 216.239.37.99
15 14 ms * 14 ms 216.239.37.99

Trace complete.
Now this problem is slightly off topic but I'm getting alot of critical warnings and errors from the event log from my modem. Here is the thread I made a week ago and since it's late I really don't want to make this post even longer.

Now get this, since 4 techs came by and according to their systems everything is listed in the "green" they cannot root out the problem. Which means they've run out of patience with this problem and unless there is something to report in their findings they can't really justify sending another tech over. Some advice would be useful as to how I should deal with this problem with TWC. Thanks in advance fellas.

Jeff,

Looks to me like TWC has their routers "blocked" for (ICMP) pings, tracert, etc. Your tracert shows you are online and able to surf to yahoo.com...
