New exhaust

Post by John MB »

I have a 1997 suzuki marauder vz800, and I just put on a new set of cobra slash cut mufflers. I was told that due to the baffles in these pipes, I wouldn't have to re-jet the carbs. Now I'm starting to worry if I made a mistake even though I haven't had any problems yet. Any suggestions?

I know it's been a day or two since you posted. One way to tell is run it normally for a couple of days. The way you'll be able to tell if the new exhaust is making you run lean is to pull the plugs. If lean they will be very white as in they are running too hot. You probably know what fouled plugs look like so that will be obvious also. The baffles are actually helping to keep your mixture correct, without the baffles you'd probably see problems.
