I went to the doc the other day and although the test results were better then the one before, he told me to take the weight off.

5'11" and 243lbs

So here I am with the Tom Venuto lifestyle change. Basically 6 meals a day (2500 calories)and 75 min of cardio and weight traning 5 days a week.

My question is..... How in gods name do you eat that often? I've been doing this for a few days and that last meal I have to choke down. Over at bodybuilding.com they are tell me to go to 3100 calories at min :eek:

Good news is the fat is falling off like crazy. I'm going to do some before and after pics and post them when all is said and done.

I remember when I used to be in to all that stuff ...

eating alot of meals more frequently will absolutely help you take the weight off Sid ... but it does take some getting used to ...

I need to get back in shape myself - is the program you're on posted online somewhere?

It's an e-book, but just head over to bodybuilding.com and they have tons of good info such as what I'm doing, maybe even more. That is, if you want the free info.

Ya, ever since the weather started to get nice, I've been walking the dog up and down the mountain and through town every day for an hour. Also drinking about 3 liters of water a day. Very little soda/juice, eating couscous (better than I thought) instead of white rice. I'm not hitting the weights heavy yet, just doin light sets with more reps. Some clothes that didn't fit me a few months after my wedding, fit me now :D

And yeah, it's not easy squeezing in all those meals, especially when you're at work most of the day. Slim Fast Optimas help.

Way to go Prey!

Dude, Slim fast is poison. Go grab yourself some Pro Complex or similar, it taste pretty good too.

I actually start weight training next monday. I have to wait for the personal trainer to show me what to do.

Sample meal

Breakfast
4 egg whites and one whole egg
1 cup(uncooked) oat meal in 8oz of skim milk

2nd breakfast(post workout)
5 egg whites
1 whole egg
3/4 cup shredded wheat(no frigin sugar)
1/2 grapefruit

1st lunch
4oz boneless skinless chicken breast grilled
1 cup cooked brown rice
1 cup broccoli

2nd lunch
3-6oz tuna (packed in water)
1 whole wheat pita pocket
1 cup cauliflower

1st dinner
4oz of lean red meat(flank steak)
non-fat cottage cheese
a piece of fruit

2nd dinner
protein shake
small salad
3 tbs non-fat salad dressing



This is just a sample. Look at all this food just for one day.

You can pass any of that weight you wish this way! My target is just the opposite...putting some on!! 5'51/2"and right at 90 pounds. I could not eat all that food you listed in a WEEK...let alone a day!! Best of luck to ya! :)

I be tryin'! ;) Thanks for the link. "fat" is something I do not think I will ever have to worry about!! Added 2 high calorie drinks a day to my regimen awhile back...and lost 4 more pounds!! Boosted it to 3 recently...we shall see what happens. :)

Thanks for the tip on the Slim Fast. I don't really drink it that much, I'd buy like a little six pack and leave it in the car, only cost like $4 at walmart LOL. I guess that it's better to drink that, than eat nothing at all. I'll look into your suggestion, thanks!

Sorry about the delay, I had to eat meal 4 :D

Prey, anything is better then nothing. If you starve your metabolisim go into starvation mode and will almost stop. You have to eat every three hrs.

i think the hardest thing is maintaining....

Losing was easy for me...maintenance is a challenge...but so far I been same weight range for over 6 months so I am happy

Well guys and gals, I'm gonna bump this just a bit sooner then expected. I was going to wait 1 yr but I have an issue with one of the other members and I'm going to stop posting here after this. Anyway, here are the before and after pics, still have lot more to go. Basically I'm not going to stop till I big and buff.

I do have to take some time off lifting as I got a hernia the other day but I will never stop. Blood pressure went for 160/116 to 114/76. My actuall starting weight was 262, I lied on the first post as not to sound like a pig. Weight is now 203. Can't tell you the fat to muscle change but you can see it a big difference.

For those of you that want to get a hold of me, you can pm me or email me. I won't post here.

Congrats Sid!!! All of those small meals keeps the metabolism burning at a faster rate. I have to do that myself. It is the eating part at work that is a pain in the butt.

To lose weight:

-Eat less calories than you are burning
-To make sure you're losing fat and not muscle, do heavy weightlifting and make sure you get enough protein each day. Good rule of thumb is at minimum 1 gram of protein per lb. of bodyweight.
-You honestly don't have to eat 6 meals a day. Studies have shown that people who ate 6 meals a day compared to people who ate 3 meals a day (total number of calories intaken was the same) didn't really have any significant affect or lose weight any faster.
-Good job on deciding to take action and also at your results thus far.

Multiply your body weight by 15 then subtract 500. That is your calories for a day for fat loss.

Bump that protein figure by .5, but 1 gram will work. I try to get at least 1.5.

Go over to forum.bodybuilding.com and ask anyone there about how many meals to eat a day. 5 minimum for men and 4 for women. I don't care what the scientist say. I do what the body builders say. It obviously work. Its all about cranking the metabolism up and keeping it there.

Not trying to be an a$$, this is what is proven to work.

I don't wanna get into a debate here, because that wasn't what this thread was intended for...but I do have valid scientific evidence to back up my point.

If the fat comes of too quickly you'll end up with flabby skin. Horrible look. Slow and consistant is much better.

Also try aerobic exercises more than weights.

No.

If you don't lift weights while losing weight, you will definitely lose muscle. The point of lifting weights is to stimulate your muscles so that when you lose weight...you mainly lose fat and not your muscle. Aerobics won't do that for you.

Carido burns muscle, ya have lift to maintain. Dead on the money Fixation.

that is why I crank my protien to 2grams per pound of weight, trying to keep the muscle while cranking an hour of eliptical cardio. I do cardio for heart conditioning only. Lifting is the only way to loose fat.

Ok i see your point. I could be wrong.

If you do intense aerobic exercise such as a stair master, you will still be stimulating the muscles won't you?

Seems like the same benefits as weights just focused on different muscles and a whole body work out.
