I have that modem and have had no problem with that tweak. My throughput is about 300KBps. I've had speed test that rate my line 70+ times faster than a 56k modem.

Hey Andrewe 77, what speed is your processor and how much memory do you have?.... Just curious.

I have a Pentium 200 MMX Overdrive and 96 MB of ram. Oh, and I'm behind an ICS server too. :D

Whats the difference between the SB3100 and the SB3100i? I have the SB3100 if you were wondering.

Hmm, that's going about half the speed it should. I'd contact your ISP... I doubt they'll do anything though. Could you psot some tracerts here for me to see?

The 3100i is an internal version of the 3100. Not fully supported by all cable companies yet.

I have a question about the math in an earlier post. The top speed in 56k modem is about 53k. 70 times 53k is 3710k or 3.7 megabytes/second. Is my math wrong?

Think it's alittle off bwes, I get it to about 2.7mbps (megaBITS)

That's partially correct. 70 times 53K is 3.7 megaBITS (not bytes) or 3710 kiloBITS per sec. The 'K' in 56K represents kiloBITS. 3.7mbps (megaBITS/sec) = ~460KBps (kiloBYTES/sec).

Ok. If 70x 56k modem speed (really 53k)is actually ~460, and the guy is getting 300, he's not getting 70x at all, but closer to only 45-46x.

I have the SB3100 modem that i use with OOL (Optimum Online).. I constantly get around 5.8Megabits per second... I have my receive window set at 64240. If anyone with an SB3100 wants to check out the modem's configuration manager, go to http://192.168.100.1

Damn..I have the 3100 and as you can see by my sig I've never gotten more than about 3000-3200Kbps. I'm envious :D I have ME with the speedguide patch and fast webpage loading patch, running through a 98SE Machine with the same patches+the Vtcp.386 fix. Hmmm bummer for me
