no more charter pipeline and their capped 512kb connection. went with bellsouth adsl. on pipeline i downloaded at around 320kb. after installing adsl (with a usb modem) i was downloading at around 944kb. after installing the tweaks i am downloading at around 960kb. i used happypuppy.com for these tests. bellsouth said i should see "up to 1500kb". is 960kb acceptable? its a hell of a lot faster than my cable was!
a post note....after tweaking and testing the first time, i rebooted and tested again. same place same file. this time download speeds were 1280kb......love it even more now!
krackerjak, you won't recieve 1.5mbps due to transmission overhead, however, you should max out at about 85% of your rated speed. Therefore, you max should be around 1.2mbps.
