Charter 3mbps. Is it true you get it?
There is a good offer at http://www.charter.com right now. They said 3mbps for 26.99 for a year. Right now im using SBC Yahoo dsl which is crap crap. They said they offer 3mbps and i wonder if they would really give you the speed. I havn't seen any complaints about Charter cable yet so anyone know if Charter is a bad company or not?

You ask in your first post whether Charter is a bad company or not and in your last post you say "I know its a good company". You complain about SBC being "crap" but seem unwilling to try something else unless you have a 100% guarantee that they will meet their stated speeds 100% of the time.
A news flash. Speed packages that ISP's sell are "best effort" and will vary depending several factors. If you need a guaranteed internet connection then call SBC and order a T1 or better.

Haha. Sbc is a one bad ass company. In my place, everyone i know hates SBC Yahoo Dsl. We all want to switch to charter, but we all hesitate a bit due to DSL Scaring us that the speed is all slow an we don't know the outcome for cable. So we all want to make sure first =D. When i say we, its my friends and i =D.. Thanks buckifan.

Are you looking for gaming performance? Go with a quality DSL ISP...something like Speakeasy.Net..they offer an ultra low latency gaming package. Cable you can get higher download speeds than DSL when you're comparing basic packages of each..but you'll be left up to the variation that cable has on performance depending upon where you live, how packed your local node is. Sometimes it's great for some, not so great for others. So depends what you're looking for....optimal gaming, I usually give the nod to DSL...especially from a quality ISP. Most people make the mistake of judging DSL based on their experience with the local phone company DSL...which believe it or not usually isn't the best performance..they were never the best for dial up, so they sure won't be the best for DSL. Optimal download speeds..usually cable wins here...although you can usually get 6 meg DSL packages.

SBC is horrible to deal with and charter may well be better, but dont expect it too be great. If speakeasy is in your area, check them out. If not then charter is probably the best bet for you.

That's what I mean, blanket statements (hates DSL) without even trying good ISP's. I bet they only have experienced SNET/SBC.fruitleader wrote:Still, in my area everyone hates DSL since there package can't even reach 1.5mbs..
Sound like people are too far from the CO to get top speeds. Hope you don't live in a high density area when you switch to cable.

I would say not to go with charter because I have the MB/500 package and I have bad ping while playing games, as my tracerts shot its not my end..
