dumb scsi question

Post by zooner »

i'm running an adaptec 29160 u160 with a cheetah 18gig 15k 68-pin

any problem running this drive with it?

36.7 GB 10000 rpm Cheetah 10K.6 Internal 68-Pin Ultra320 SCSI Hard Drive

I might pick it up from dell or look around for one. I'd like to setup a scsi gaming hard drive.

It should work, no problems, with a data transfer rate of 160 MB/sec...

The 29160 has a transfer rate of 160 MB/sec, your new hdd has a potential rate of 320 MB/sec...

Technically, it's the U320 bus itself that has the potential to spit out 320 megs...the drive itself will never get even near 1/3 of that. :D

thanks!

I image I can pick up a 18-36gig scsi 10k for pretty cheap. Plenty fast enough for a gamin HD.
