Problems with my Burner

Problems with my Burner

I have a cheapo External Burner called a Mad Dogg and i can't get it to burn correctly. It will say it's burning and then burn complete but theres nothing on the disk any ideas guys????????????

Have you tried changing the ports that is connected to? (Wether its USB or Firewire) and what about the burning software? Is it up to date? Have you checked for updates? Which one are you using? Are you using Windows XP as well?

I have Nero and its up to date and i have also tried changing usb ports but yes i do have Windows XP if that helps

Yeah i did that tooo I think I'm gonna go buy an internal FRUSTRATED........................

Did it ever work? Have you tried burning using the built in XP burning util? If so , has that worked?
If its new and returnable yes I would bring it back and get an internal one. Usually more reliable.

It use to work then i formatted when i built my new system and installed the original drivers on the same OS but it doesn't work now...............

If it used to work then it should now. I would imagine its something driver related that you missed. Possibly the USB drivers maybe. Did you also install the Service Pack 1 update and the updates after that for the USB 1.0 & 2.0?
Also if its a VIA or Intel chipset, go to their sites and download the chipset drivers. For via it would be

http://www.viaarena.com and look for the hyperion drivers
and for the intel look for the Intel chipset installation utility

I think you can pop open the external case and put the drive into your case.
