The part I want to verify is not what a VPN is, but rather the concept of DES/3DES, MDS/SHAW?. In other words what exactly does those protocols do, want to know if the expalnation I wrote is correct?

VPN Log definition

Hello all. I have a simple request. does anybody know where I can find some type of vpn log explenation for the befsx41,befvp41 or rv082 vpn router. reason being is that I want to know what the error messages mean and how to read my logs. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

If you have more than one pc you will then need a router. You setup the router depending on the type of account you have(most likely you have a PPPoe account). then you just click on I.E. and you can get to the net with all the computers.

o.k. I follwed instructions and I forward both ports and did not work, so I forward only 1723 and still did not work. I think I might have to try a different firmware a earlier one, what do you guys think?

Hell all. O.k. here are the results and what I did. I installed windows 2003 server to test it out, and did the zones just how the link shows and all error messages are gone, and now my pc that used to take 2-3 min to log in now takes about 10 seconds. again, thanks to everyone.

I have set norton to run early in the morning once a day and i also did a windows update late last night on the clients and server. I did create the zones. what do you mean if the zones populate.

I set up DHCP on the server and computers get an ip address fro m it and the correct DNS but I still get the same error. I disabled the DHCP on the router but did not set dhcp on the server I gav the computers a static ip address and it did the same thing, now I will set DHCP on the server and see what happens, the computers dont lose signal to the server and all connectivity is good, no packets loose nothing like ...

after the DNS changes I rebooted server and clients and still took long to log in, I checked the even viewer for error messages and did not find errors, I also checked cpu usage and meme usage
on both server and client and have less thand half of it in use.

On my last reply I did post the results of the servers ip address and the clients ip address. I also did take out the second entry on the server of the DNS so now it just has it's own.

I got some bad new. It still did not fix my issue. I had to reboot my pc and still lags the same amount time. I run ipconfig /all and now my DNS points to my server and nothing else but still slow.
I set up my forwards just how the screen shots show but still no luck. I'm lost :( :( :(
