Personally I would approach this in a different way.
Make the batch file a scheduled task running under a different account to the one the user is using. This way, the user will not see the job running and therefore cannot close it.

Post the batch file here and we can see what we can do for you ...

There are a few methods you can use for this but perhaps the best would be to use a VPN.
You really need to work out what kind of bandwidth is required.

The budget issue is the reason i didn;t suggest something along the lines of CATS posting.
SBS2003 really is your best bet but if the budget isn't there, no-one on this forum will suggest you use unlicensed software and dodgy cheap hardware.

What kind of routers do each office have?

i would get routers that support LT2P IPSec VPNS and connect them all that way.

3Com boot services always do it for me - it's free as part of Ghost enterprise but not sure if you can download it somewhere off the web.
Otherwise, Barts boot disks are always a good bet. http://www.bootdisk.com

FYI - i still think that RIS has a long way to go to beat ghost, but you need to know ...

You have your domain set up on your windows servers, with all users confugured in organisational units.
You data is held on the server for example in the following stucture:
Server Operating system installed on C:
Data all held on D:

OK in that case i assume you are using a 90 day evaluation edition!!!!!!!!!!

If you want experience, use Routing and Remote Access rather than internet connection sharing.

Run RRASMGMT.MSC and run through the wizard.

router on a stick is a valid suggestion but i do not see the need for all of the subnets spoken of. Security in Windows server ( or any other server) is there to save the need for all of this and it makes life so much easier.

If this were me setting up this network, i would be approaching i a different way.
103 computers is not that many so this isn't a massive job. But is does mean that you are outside the realms of Small business server (75 users)

you can get wall plugged ethernet bridges for use in 220v power outlets- .eg the UK. I have a few of them. I posted the American link as i assumed you were a Yank!!

ZoneAlarm REALLY DOES slow your PC down. That's the reason i stopped using it at home. It hammers performance even on a decent machine.

Sounds like a DNS entry is missing. Was the schema master ever on a different server that no longer exists?
User the Admin tools to ensure that the DC is the schema master.

try running ipconfig/ registerdns on the DC and also run the ADPREP tool on the DC from the exchange CD.

Microsoft ISA Server2004 is the best of breed in my opinion (of software firewalls)

generally, hardware firewalls do not operate at the application layer, which software ones can do in addition to layer 3.

I use a Cisco PIX as a front end and then ISA Server as a backend firewall.

What sort of flexibility are you referring to? Surely if the network boot disk connects to the network, maps a drive and then allows the image transfer, that's all you need.

We use a standard dos network boot disk, but have ported it to a USB stick.
Have you tried using PXE booting? not don't it ...

Does the computer get an IP address from the DHCP server in the router?
If not, is DHCP client running?
if yes, is it on the same network (in IP terms) as the ones that work?
Are you running any VLANs on the router? (i;m not familiar with the feature set on teh router you have)

VLANS are effectvily separate networks on one router/ switch.
Best to read up on them as that is where your solution lies.

To acheive good internet connections you need several things.
1. ISP with a low contention ratio
2. A good Secure Router. Consider Cisco 1820 with an ADSL interface or Cheaper but still good is a Dreytek 2600

If you have a lot of web traffic consider some sort of caching device or Microsoft ISA Server.
Anything caching websites will improve speed dramtically. We achieve a 40% cache hit ratio on 250 users!!!!!
