ie6 personalize fav menu not working, enabled

Yikes! For some reason, my personalized favorites menu settings are not working in ie6. I just compleated a clean install of win2kpro, and although I created new additional folders in my favorites menu, I copied my old links to each folder.

I have a lot of folders, so having the personalized menu ...

GSartup.lnk how to remove?

Anyone have anyidea of what this link refers to? The only thing I can think of is that I uninstalled the ad version of some (gokster, i think) sharing programs to change over to the light versions, and I now get a 'unable to connect to the network drive' that GSartup.lnk refers to. I get this every ...

The drive was a 7200rpm WD,

SUCCESS!! The problem seems to have come from the Promise Ultra ATA 100. Although my Hard Drives are IDE, for some reason the Promise drivers and controller appear to windows as a scsi drive. So i needed to do the F6 routine to load up a driver.

Apparently, the promise ...

well, I loaded a promise 100 ATA driver, and that now at least will allow me to continue on through the set up process. BUT..

My origional plan was to use GWSCAM to write all zeros, but .. u guessed it, after boot with a floppy, GWSCAN doesn't find any drives. So, now I'm doing the install via cd ...

After reviewing the Asus web page for my A7v133 motherboard, it appears that this is probably a BIOS problem. Hmm.. At this point, I'll take their word for it and flash a BIOS update.

I *thought* I was already using the newer BIOS though.

I'll post the results this afternoon after work.

Indy ...

Thanks Jet - Unfortunately, that is the guide I have been using for the install.

I guess I'm thinking that my problems are related to the promise technology drivers that load my BIOS 100. During boot-up, the normal bios does not recognize any of my Hard Drives. But once basic bios is finished ...

<sigh> 4 hours and no progress

well, I guess I'm not surprised! So far, no luck installing win 2k.

Plan 'A' was to boot with win 98 disk and then run ‘GWSCAN' to write all zero's to my C drive. However, GWSCAN says I have no drives  Hmmm - only thing I can think of is that this is related to the ultra 100 drivers, which ...

the deed - 98se to 2000 pro -hints or web sites?

I know this has probably been covered somewhere on here. I have not found the info during my recent brose through of the last 10 pages or so.

I'm finally going to make the jump to a clean install of 2000pro. Just wondering if there are any web sites that will help me make a smooth change, and ...

98se Vs 2000? or go xp?

I just got off the phone with my sister who has switched to win 2000 from 98. She is advising me to do as well. I always thought 2000 was for networks (?), but she is running it on her laptops and home pc.

Is this a better alternative to 98se? I do have occasional boot problems with 98se that seem ...

simple (?) folding question

can anyone please clarify the username policy for me? I currently have my home computer using my name, and I put 3 of my computers in at work under my name as well. IS this ok, or should I name each of the ones at work with a number after my name, ie XXX1; XXX2; XXX#?

any help would be appreciated ...
