Thanks all, I finally gave up and used the WAN port POE but ran another Ethernet cable to one of the LAN ports and used that to setup the device as AP.

Wireless AP Setup

I have an older Highgain Antennas 8186 CPE/AP/Router that I would like to setup as a wireless AP. I need to take advantage of the POE feature since I am locating it on my rooftop. The POE only functions in the WAN port, none of the LAN ports are POE. I have done this type of setup before using other ...

IPv6 Settings

I am trying to setup IPv6 on my RT-N66U running Shibby Tomato Firmware 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-140 K26 USB AIO-64K. From my ISP I get Delegated Prefix and IPv6 Gateway Address but my routers firmware only has a box to fill in Assigned / Routed Prefix in the Native IPv6 from ISP Service Type and only boxes ...

Your ISP may be forcing some type of transparent proxy server on your connection to reduce their bandwidth loads. See what the hostname of those IPs is. Run traceroutes, to see what nodes are on the path between you and websites.

There are other online services that can check your IP and proxy ...

New ISP Help

Help, I just switched ISP’s and now I don’t seem to be able to use any DNS servers other than the ones the new ISP provides and I also noted that when I run https://www.whatismyip.com/ I get a different address than what is shown in my router settings. I am using the ISP’s cable modem that I have ...

ip neigh show (ip neighbor show) displays the "neighbor" table, i.e. the ARP cache...
arp -n <-- this may show the same info in a bit more clear format.

So, in essence, you are trying to add the IP 192.168.1.254 to the ARP table and map it to link layer address ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

I would try:

ip ...

RT-N66U WOL Setup using Tomato Shibby

I am attempting to setup one of my PC’s to accept WOL packets and I understand that in order to be able to issue the command from outside my LAN I need to setup my RT-N66U, running Tomato Shibby, so that 192.168.1.254 is a broadcast address by adding these two lines to Administration->Scripts ...

Thanks Phillip, your comments were right along the line I was thinking but I just wanted other opinions. I do have channels set about the same as you suggested and may upgrade a couple of the AP's later but right now all seem to be working fine given the limited user base (family and visitors). I am ...

To Mesh or Not to Mesh

I have a large building that has three (3) floors; the building is brick and concrete with metal reinforcing. Currently I have two AP’s on the roof, two AP’s on the main floor and one AP on each of the other floors all connected by Ethernet cabling. All of the AP’s use the same SSID but each uses a ...
