I got the new version of Norton for XP, but some of the utilities that are available in 98 are not in XP, anyone else have the same?

That is for Norton Utilities.

Utilities for xp?

Anyone know of a good software utilities package for XP? I tried installing a copy of Norton that I had, but half the utilities don't show up that do on my 98SE computer, I download a patch for the program too. Does not seem to be alot of programs out for XP yet.

Does anyone have Direct TV DSL? if so, is it any good? I live in an area where we have nothing in terms of high speed internet access, and I am getting desperate. I got it. It is:

"shutdown -s -t 0" for shutdown without the quotes, although you may need to manually turn off the computer.

"shutdown -r -t 0" for restart, again, without the quotes.

that is the "number" zero at the end of each.

yes that's the file, thanks. Not used to this system. Anyways the shortcut for shutdown and restart for 98 is: C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindows for shutdown and C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL.EXE user.exe, exitwindowsexec for re-start. I was just wondering if I could create shortcuts in XP too.

shortcut to shutdown in XP?

Is there a shortcut that I can create to restart and shutdown on Windows XP? I have them for 98, but don't see a rundll.exe in XP, thought it might be the same.

Thanks :)

What would be a good refresh rate for a laptop. It is set at 60. If this is the wrong place to post this, sorry, not sure where it should go.

so, it is possible for two different file systems to "share" the same drive? Does it create problems with installing programs say onto the NTFS drive even when some files will be put into the fat 32 drive if that's where the windows folder is?

Fat 32 or NTFS?

The laptop I bought has the hard drive split into two drives. The C drive is fat 32 and the D drive is NTFS.

My question is.....should I convert the C drive to NTFS? Is there any benefit to doing that? and can I do that without re-formatting?

Thank you.

I know about NTFS having encryption, and ...

Are laptops slower in general than desktop pcs with the same hardware? Is it because of the LCD screen? Just wondering cuz I have both with the same cpu and ram, but the laptop seems much slower than the desktop.
