OK, I downloaded Eudora and tried it (to see if it was a Thunderbird problem.) Same result.
I also tried toggling TLS, same result.
Then I downloaded wireshark and captured Thunderbird trying to send an email to the server. But it is too much for me to figure out what is happening. Can I post the ...
