My subnet is 255.255.255.0
To what should I change it, and why - what's the rationale for the changed number? I tried different combinations and even found one that had the IP (by the running dog) end up the same as the intended IP, it still wouldn't start up the remote computer.

Anyone answer ...

Got bored yesterday, so I ran checked out the power consumption of my X3360 system for shits and giggles with my kill-a-watt.

Memory bandwidth tests... any real differences (part 2)

About 7 months ago I posted data comparing two memory dividers (1:1 and 3:5 @ 333 MHz) on my then Q6600/P965 based system and concluded that for the 67 % increase in memory bandwidth, the marginal gains in actual performance weren't worth the extra voltage/heat.

Since then I've upgraded my hardware ...

HOWTO: Minimizing Vcores and Operating Temps-must read

Well, guys I wrote up this procedure I used to minimize my vcores on my new x3360/P35-based system, and I thought I'd share it with folks. It's a systematic method anyone can use to arrive at a minimized set of vcores for a given multiplier and FSB value. The examples I present in this post are ...

@Mark - Yeah, my guess is that you actually downloaded and run the HD x264 benchmark . This thread that you posted to is the "older" SD benchmark. The video size is smaller on the SD version. Your results are inline with other Q6600 systems running the HD benchmark.

new HD x264 video encoding benchmark

Techarp is hosting a new HD x264 benchmark . Have a look and run it on your system to help populate the data table.

Basically, you run the test encode of an HD sample (1280x720) and it will report back frames-per-second values for your machine @ it's clock/overclock level. You can run it at your ...

One thing that I found striking about these new chips is that they are only ...

Memory bandwidth tests... any real differences (PC5300 vs. PC8888)

Common sense tell you that higher memory bandwidth should mean faster results, right? I set out to put this thought to the test looking at just two different memory dividers on my o/c'ed Q6600 system. At a FSB of 333 MHz, the slowest and fastest dividers I could run are:

1:1 a.k.a. PC5300 (667 MHz ...

@Rivas - It depends on the video bitrate true, but it also depends on many different factors affecting quality. The whole point of the benchmark is to hold all of them constant (i.e. everyone uses the same set of x264 parameters for the test). This way, people can look at the results and see which ...

q6600 g0 owners - what is your min. stable vcore @ 9x333?

Topic says it all. I'm only interested in your vcore @ 9x333 if you own a g0 Q6600 and you minimized the vcore and if it's stable to 2x orthos or prime95 v25.3 for over say 4 hours. It would also be cool to see your VID as reported in coretemp. So I guess I'd like to see two things:

1) Your ...
