Hey Rainallday, that's the @home cable patch which will give you a RWIN of 373360. For some reason, this RWIN gives me better download speeds. I consistenty download in the range of 130-180kbps on sites such as CNET and other good servers. I'm about 16,300 feet from my CO and I generally get decent ...

That is the RWin of the @home cable speed patch. Actually I,m on Bellsouth DSL and I have applied that patch as well as the speedguide 98 patch and the faster web page patch and I find that it works best for me. I have tried all other combinations and the combos actually didn't improve me much like ...

The speed will depend on what kind of package your cable company will offer you and what you are willing to pay for. If you pay for more speed then you'll get it and well of course, the cable company will have to offer the more speed option!! It would have to be a real good cable company to do this ...

Hey dude, with some patches from here, you should get pretty decent speeds! I live in Louisiana and my speeds with the patches average between 600 and 1.3Mpbs. Now you will every now and then get some lower readings when you do a speed test but at least it's not consistent at those lower speeds. My ...

I tried accessing my newsgroups through bellsouth only to find out that all the Binary files are always deleted or pulled out. The dude at the help desk told me that Bellsouth doesn't support downloading in the newsgroups. Ok, excuse me, but it this is a common practice for Bellsouth then that ...

Can someone tell me what the diffrence between a sound card and an integrated sound chip on a motherboard is? I guess what I really need to know is if one is better than the other and why? Oh, don't get me wrong, I have no doubt that for some people Charter performs better than thier original 56k modem but for a lot of others, they just as well stick with their 56k connection. Id does depend on area but you have to understand another factor and that is "they're capping crazy" and yes ...

I have DSL 1.5/256 and I had applied the 98 mtu patch, the vtcp.386 update, the fast web page loading patch. My speeds did increase but not that much. I then downloaded the @home speed patch and Wa-bam, my speed shot up greatly. Go figure, with its 373360 Rwin! By the way, I'm running on Windows 98 ...

Anybody with Bellsouth having this prob?
I'v got Bellsouth DSL and I'm using Agent Newsreader for my newsgroups. I have bellsouth ADSL PPPoA and I tried both. Then one you need to use if you have the USB Speedtouch modem is the non pppoe patch. Hey dudes, sorry but my DSL connection is a PPPoA connection according to Bellsouth's technical help desk. I'm using a speed touch USB modem and you have to go through the log on screen first before you actually get on the internet.

DSL question please!
Is it common for bandwith speeds to fluctuate on a DSL line? I can run 4 speed tests one behind the other on 2wire.com and all four times get diffrent speeds. For example..#1 will read 384kbps, #2 is 558kbps, #3 is 1235kbps and #4 is 670kbps. Is this normal? If not, what is going on here and why do ...

Charter Pipeline..caught in a lie?
If you log on to Charter Pipeline's website, they state that there will never be a decrease in speed due to the face that they have enough bandwith capacity for each and every household. They also compare cable to dsl and state that their cable modem service is superior the dsl because "their ...

I'll tell you this, when you first get your cable modem, you won't be capped. It is a way for your cable company to intice you. Proably for about a month, your speeds will be pretty fast and reliable then all of a sudden, your speed will drop dramatically. That my friends is the cap. Look for it ...
