Another stupid MS move. It was much easier to browse through the cookies and delete ones you didn't want, but keep ones that are useful, like various bank sites, etc. I mistakenly wiped all the text name ones out and then found my bank no longer showed my computer registered, those kind of problems.

I'll have to look next time I am on a Win 8 PC. But still STUPID that they took away that convenient option from within the Windows Defender (MSE) interface. Can you tell if the default scan in scheduled tasks runs a full or quick scan and can that be changed there as well?

Windows 8 & Windows Defender (MSE)

I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials for a couple years now. Ever since people here turned me onto it, I was using Avira before that. I use it on my own computers and most of the people I help with tech support issues. Shortly after Windows 8 came out, I found out that MSE was now incorpo...

I just noticed that my computer has changed the way the file names for IE are showing up in Windows Explorer. I have XP SP2 with IE8. They used to have my profile name "owner" and then the website, such as owner@www.cnn.com[1].txt. Now they appear with a random 8 character n...

Laptop, Battery and Internet

I'm having a problem with my wife's laptop. It seems when it is running on the battery, the OS will freeze up more often than not, requiring a hard reboot. The only thing I have been able to track so far is that this seems to start while in Internet Explorer. If I run the laptop on battery and do ot...

I installed all the usual Canon Drivers and Helper Apps. When we print, it responds right away, no problems. But when we scan, we open the progra...

I was helping someone who wants to add a third monitor to his HP6804. He currently has dual monitors already. How can I go about helping him do this? The motherboard has an integrated VGA & DVI and those are what is currently in use. The specs say they become disabled if you install a video card.
