It would probably be a good Idea, to not use that 80Ft. Phone Cord..
Verizon has a 14ft cord limit, when using there DSL.. It will work when you have a cord over 14 feet, but if it goes out of sync in the next week or month, or year, then you know it is that phone cord..

If you have a router.. try another ethernet port... instead of using port 1 then use port 2.. Alot of times this can help fix the issue..

Error 678.. Can mean an array of things..
Most of the time though, if you just AirGap your modem..
(Remove every cord from the back.. and wait about a minute, then plug your phone cord 1st, ethernet 2nd, and power 3rd)
Usually after that, try to connect again and you'll get back online..

Actually..
The only thing your going to need in the Verizon CD.. is the WinPoet Software, which is not Integrated with Support Center.. Also the only way you even need Winpoet is if you have a Westell Wirespeed or White Westell and you do not have Windows XP..
