Not sure if it's that, that exploit is pretty old (article goes back to 2018). I would make a hunch that Asus patched it since then.
Lots of exploits will survive a reboot, so..yeah factory resetting for patching with updated (fixed) firmware is a good idea if malware/exploits are suspect.

This says Russian hackers are to blame…I don’t believe AX55 was on the list of routers in the article but did seem to be affected.
Main question I have is do I really need a factory reset before installing the new firmware?

Multiple Asus Routers Out of Memory Problems on May 17, 2023
My own router Asus (AC68U) and another family member (with ASUS AX55) started to have internet issues yesterday. Funny thing is we have different ISPs (different areas of the city) so I was able to track it down to the fact we both had ASUS routers. As soon as I started Google search I started to ...

IDE to USB for Old quantum fireball ex 3.5 series?
I’m curious if I try to read data off of a quantum fireball ex 3.5 series hard drive using an IDE to USB converter if I’ll have success. I believe the age of this drive is mid/late 1990s. Fairly sure I had windows 95 on it, was pulled from a 486 (100mhz I think).

Asus RT-AC68U Wireless AC1900 still being sold 7 years later?
I bought the Asus RT-AC68U Wireless AC1900 router at least 7 years ago and I notice when looking for a new router that it's still being sold and with decent reviews. Is the router actually that good by today's standards or is there something that I should look for instead? https://www.amazon.ca/dp ...

I did check your model and you do not have onboard video connection from the mobo. Have you tried removing and reseating the vidoo card (just for the fun of it). Also, I would try using the Nvidia utility to delete all traces of the card and driver and then start again with the card and drives as ...

HP Omen versus Dell XPS Mid-Level Gaming Machine Opinion
Curious if anyone has opinions on buying an HP OMEN versus Dell XPS mid-level gaming machines. These 2 machines are roughly the same price $1800 CAD ($1250 USD). What I don't like about some Dell PCs in the past is they have limitations as far as upgrades (extremely basic & stupid BIOS creates most ...

RAM upgrade question
I've got a Dell 435T/9000 that came with 4 sticks of 2 Gb RAM sticks. I want more RAM as I seem to be able to max out 8 Gb fairly often.

Longest safe span for defrag to run?
A few times a year I defrag one of my large multi-gig disk drives where I mostly store movie/music files. As movie files have become larger over the years I find even with minimal fragmentation the defragmenter will want to run 12+ hours.

Upgrade Dell XPS 8300 video card worth it?
I've got a friend trying to do some moderate gaming on a Dell XPS 8300 and the base video card won't really do anything now. I think the CPU is good enough. When is a CPU too old for a new GPU to matter?
I'm looking at bumping up the GPU on ~2011 vintage Dell PC (XPS 8300) with a Core i7-2600 (2nd Generation Core i7) CPU on it.
The goal would be to play a few more 2015 vintage PC games on it at and enjoy reasonable gameplay...no expectation of maximizing graphics settings but I don't want really ...
