Me too. It happened on the network I use at work and my home network. It happened using IE 6.0 and FireFox 1.5 on both networks.

I fired an e-mail off to them last night. They haven't gotten back to me yet. In the mean time, I did some more googling and the info I got was that Linksys claims the EG005W supports jumbo frames, but real-world reports (not from Linksys supported offshore unsupport personel) indicate it just ain't ...

I think I already found the answer to my problem. I found a document on Google that says most SOHO gigabit switches do NOT support jumbo frames. :irate:

That's gonna be (expletive deleted) if its true.

I'm going to contact Linksys and see if they can confirm this about their Gigabit switch.

Gigabit with Jumbo Frames - Does it work at all?

The hardware:

Two PCs - System A and System B. Both running XP SP2. Latest drivers, all updates, as current as possible.

System A has two Marvell Yukon PCI-E onboard Gigabit adapters. Let's call them A1 and A2. A2 is connected to a Fast Ethernet Router which in turn is connected to a cable modem ...

Can Cable Modem USB MAC be cloned to Router?

First the history: I've got a Motorola SB5100 connected to my wifes PC thru the USB port. My PCs internet connection passes thru hers using a hub connected to her NIC and then ICS.

Knowing that thats not the best way to do it, and after having some issues with ICS, I've decided to upgrade our ...

Williee,

I have Charter and they only provide dynamic addressing for residential customers, and they don't allow residential customers to run servers either.

But they do have a small bussiness/corporate service that does provide for static addressing and server functions. I don't know what the ...

Thanks Jack! :D

I think I'll take your suggestion and go with #1. The switch will allow for putting an extra PC into the mix if that should happen down the road.

The LAN traffic isn't that heavy except for occasional game data (4-5GB) backups. The Giga will help a lot with that even if it isn't ...

twwabw,

After I made that last post ( in haste ), what you said finally started to sink in. I reviewed all of the documentation for the other routers offered by Linksys, and found that the BEFSX41 supported 10/100 on the WAN side which will give me that future-proofing in case DOCSIS 2.0 is ever ...

Yeah, I knew that was your point, but the BEFSR11 has all the features I need.

I know the firewall in it is limited but since my cable provider acts as the DHCP and changes my IP every couple of days, I'm not terribly worried, plus I've already got Zone Alarm. I've only got 2 PCs, and don't need ...

Since the switch that I plan to get already has more ports than I need, I didn't see any need in spending more money for even more extra ports that I'll never use. All the other Linksys routers have 4 or more ports.

Thanks for the reminder about the wiring. :) I plan on getting Cat-5e cables. The ...

Q: Re: Proposed network setup

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, but I've been a fan of the website for years and have used all of the networking tweaks here, so I'm a happy camper.

Some history leading up to the question:

I'm in the process of putting together the parts list for a new PC that I plan on building and ...
