You've taken a metaphorical weight off my mind and saved me about 15 GB of slowly acquired music.

In short, you rock. Sincerely, thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the help.

I removed the entries with Hijack, and that restored the normal font size in the browser.

After rebooting, a new error was brought up when I tried to run Windows Media Player:

"The instruction at "0x591c2522" referenced memory at "0x521f6128". The memory could not be "read ...

"Twisting Further Nails (The Cruci-fiction Remix)" - Cradle of Filth

*edit*

Followed by something by Apocalyptica. I don't know what it is, seeing as I can't see Windows Media Player, due to missing files, and I haven't become well acquainted enough with Apocalyptica to discern track names.

Hmmm.

I would start evaluating options to save what you can and reinstall an OS - cdr, second hdd, whatever.

I do have some questions -

What exactly do you mean when you say 'processes blocked, tools deleted' ?
Do you have the installers for the apps you've removed?
Oh, using ...

"
Security Update for Windows XP (KB839645)

A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a computer running Windows and gain control over it.
"

Someone may be having fun with you.
Eek.

Wow.

You have listed much sw that has been uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. Could you please list the combo you had when it last worked, the combo now, and your OS - do you have an installation disk?

Skye
Sure. It's been declining steadily for a while now, but the last combo I remember working ...

Whoa, I just got this message during Windows Update:

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

The network location from which the files should be ...

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that I was free of bugs. Quite the opposite. I can barely do anything without getting an error, and all the problems I listed still persist.

But thanks for the links. :p

I reckon I'm missing registry entries and .dll's and such, and it's impossible to get the latter ...

I deleted BlackICE. No immediate noticable change, but it doesn't matter, seeing as ZA made it kinda redundant anyway.

The problem is....

Housecall didn't work because "Unable to run Housecall. Because this site is not authorised to host Housecall.".

Yup, I can't enable pop-up windows of any kind. And it's got nothing to do with the browser settings or ZoneAlarm.
I can't alter the volume settings either. They just crash.

I want help. Lots of it. I hereby throw myself upon your mercy and patience.

I don't know a great deal about computers, but here goes:

Help and Support doesn't function when selected. The cursor just briefly turns into an hourglass and then... nothing.

System Restore doesn't function. When ...
