Uninstall evrything pertaining to the TNT, then go to device manager and uninstall the TNT card. Turn off pc and remove the card. Install the GF4 and boot up. Go into bios and make sure these settings are enabled:

4x mode
Agp-128
fast write

Then boot up. Install the drivers and you're good to go.

Go to the nvidia site. You really don't need all that extra bundled crap that comes with the cd.

Uninstall the vid software in safemode..that way your old card is using windows drivers..you get a cleaner uninstall that way.

LT-73 i have this weird problem :( , it just started earlier this afternoon . first when i got onto server<counter-strike> the screen goes blur, then it gradually comes back to normal, but there are alot of square in blue and yellow everywhere. in ct spawn some part of the wall turn blue. another thing i notice is that my fps never goes up to 99 anymore, it stays around 50-60. it wasnt like that the first 3 days. i use detonator 40.72 for windows ME. i havent done any tweakin..anyway i happend to find someone who has a similar problem with his new Gainward on another forum, but his color is pink..do you have any idea why? i tought Gainward own :(

Hmmm, could be the drivers. lemme check something out for ya. you're using win ME right?

Unistall those drivers. They're not for Win ME. Use these instead:
http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=win9x_30.82

The 40.72's are for 2k and XP not ME

hmm i believe there is two of detonator 40.72. one is for XP/2002 and the other s for 95/ 98/ ME..there is three columns on the download drivers page, what i did was i select Graphic drivers in the first column, then detonator 40 in second column, and there are two options in the third column "Windows XP/ 2000 and windows 95/98/ ME " i select the second one LT-73. so i did choose the right one for ME..tell me one more time that your sure that what im using now is for XP/2k :D :p

I dunno, but those drivers and your os are having a conflict. If i was you, i'd switch 'em and see. It won't hurt to find out.

:( LT-73 i cant believe this crap, its fuked up. i replaced the detonator 40.72 with 30.82_win9x last night, it went great. but Today i think I have encountered the dreded pink screen..when i turned on the computer, on the bios screen there are alot of horizontal lines, and what comes up after my dell welcome is like a cheesboard of red/pink color, it just freeze that i have to press ctr+alt+delt to restart, its supposed to be welcome to window where i have to enter my username and password. i have to go in safe mode to be able to go to dekstop. ive uninstalled the driver and installed it back for many times but the problem still exists. Now im back using my old TNT2 video card, everything goes fine, i can log on to internet, here i am writing a post reply. is this what i get from $178 worth of GAINWARD GeForce4 Ti4200 128mb?? that sux.. i know someone who have the same problem as me a month later after he bought it..what should i do now LT-73? :( btw i bought it from newegg

Dam! Sorry about you goin thru that. You tried evrything including switching drivers. My suggestion is to RMA it. Maybe your board does'nt like the Gainward even tho it's a great card. First time i ever encountered that kind of problem with a Gainward.

Send it back to newegg and get a different brand card. I've got a Visiontek, but newegg does'nt carry it anymore.

Check this one :http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp ... 150-03.JPG

It'll be ok bro. I understand what you're goin thru. If there's anyone here that's had major problems with parts, it's me. 90% of my parts met the sledgehammer. These guyz call it "goin LT-73" lol. Ask anyone here, they can all vouch on that!

goin LT-73! lol.. yea i think ill get the leadtek one, its not that my board doesnt like the Gainward, it is just the Gainward GeF4 Ti4200 sux, i think they sould call in a recall for it. Many people around the world have the same problem with it, they returnd it and get another of it but still they got the same problem, also there is someone who wasted about $60 just for the cost of shipping it back, he's got like 4 replacement of the same card and all of them are defective lol. my problem is known "pink screen of death". if you have time just scan this forum http://discuss.madonion.com/forum/showf ... er=973234.
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=5144
i found out that a lot of them replaced their Gainward with leadtek, just like you suggest bro
:D it looks tight!!
Question: 1 if i ram the Gainward and ask for leadtek wouldnt i get charged restocking fee of 15%?? (im new to newegg) i hope they give me some bucks back since leadtek is cheaper :p
and 2. are the following two cards better than the one you suggest?
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduct.a ... 147&depa=1

3.what happend to your Gainward?
thanks bro :D

lol, Ok here we go:

Answers to questions
#1- You might get a restocking fee, i dunno. Call them first and ask.
#2- They're both the same card with a 2 dollar difference.
#3 My Gainward GF3 Ti200 is now in the hands of bastid. He bought it along with some other stuff. He's really happy with it!

That's messed up about the Gainward GF4 Ti4200 series. I must have missed that thread @ madonion.

Go with the Leadtek and lemme know what happends.

Hey , kewl beans!

yeah, the card will run fine. You have more than 500Mhz and plenty of ram. I suggest tho you change that os to win 2k or xp. ME has issues.
