Network printing

Post by assodinaro »

I have to computers networked together. One is a win 98se and the other is a win 95b. The printer is connected to the win 98se comp. When i try to print from the win 95 machine an error of printer communication failed. The printer is turned on and i have installed the printer on the win 95 machine. I cannot work out what the problem is.
Could anyone help please.

The computer that has the printer directly connected to it, must have File and Print Sharing for MS Networks loaded.....then "share" the printer, calling it something like hpdeskjet (you'll see the little blue hand under it meaning it's a shared resources). Lets assume this computer is named "Server"

Now on the other machine not connected to the printer, the "Devices" tab...."Print to the following port"....drill down, select network find it...select it...basically is should be something like \\server\hpdeskjet
