MSN Gaming Zone and Linksys BEFSR41
I have been trying to get Combat Flight Sim to work over MSN Zone on my ADSL connection. My wife and I are on the Linksys router and are trying to play with her father who is on a cable connection (not behind a router). My ISP is not PPPoe. I have tried tech support and they gave me the ports to open, but I had only upgraded to 1.30 firmware as I was not aware of the newer firmware, and could not put in the port ranges. I did try the beta version of 1.33 with port ranges, but the router acted funny and would not access the internet on her computer.(mine worked fine) I have since upgraded to 1.33.1 official firmware from Linksys but have not tried zone gaming yet. The problem was that her father and I would be able to see each other but when she would join in it would be over the lan not the internet and could not see him only me. I'm probably forgetting vital info, but that's what I recall at the moment. Please Help!

Hiya Docmhz,
Ok, first of all, it is important to understand that CFS when launched from the Zone still works via a peer-to-peer setup. That is, there is NO zone server involved, other than to send each of the joining players the IP address of the launching player.
What I suspect is happening here is that the zone cannot accurately determine all the addresses involved due to your router. The following MS articles may help you resolve the problem tho...
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/4/29.ASP http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q159/0/31.ASP
Those two articles should allow you to get the configuration figured out
