Gamepad problem

I play madden 08 and my Logitech Rumblepad has some problems. The right analog stick is erratic. 80% of the time the Y axis works. The other 20% it won't. This problems comes up midway through the game for about one or 2 plays, but then starts to work again.

I thought it was the gamepad, so i got another, and the problem still exist. Any ideas on what this could be?

driver's? ya try it in any other game? does the driver setup have a dead zone setting or something similer that could use tweeking?
