wireless router to cat5 on 10/100 switch hub

Post by sindisa »

Hi.I have a Canyon CN-WF514M 4 port wireless router Which I am using for a wireless network on one side of a factory. I then have a CAT5 cable plugged into one of the ports which then runs 85meters to the other side of the factory. I have a standard 5 port 10/100 switch hub (which I know works) at the end to boost it to run another 45meters. If I plug the 85m cable directly into my laptop (where it would go into the 10/100 5 port hub)(with server assigned IP Address) I can see the wireless router and browse to other machines on the wireless network. I then unplug the 85m cable (which runs directly to the wireless router) from my laptop and plug it into the 5port 10/100 switch and then a fly lead from the hub to my laptop, I cannot ping the machines and the wireless router anymore. I have switched off the DHCP on the router - no change. I would like to leave it off anyway as one of the machines on the other network (which i ultimately want to connect to) has a DSL router with DSL connection. What am I missing in the config of the Canyon Wireless?
