Friend screwed with services *Need assistance*

Post by d2fanatic007 »

My friend saw a site where it told him what services to turn off or disable so that you get the most out of a pc and he followed it for both pcs he had (1) a Windows XP Home SP-2 and (1) Windows XP Prof SP-2

everything keeps goin wierd and I wanted to know if someone could give me a screenshot of their services, or tell me what to set them too, or give me a site with the defaults cause when I get out of work ima stop over there and fix em

plus, if anyone knows, is there a way to block them from getting into the services.msc, so I can prevent them from changing the settings?!

There was a good resource, http://www.blackviper.com
Which explained services and had various levels of tuning. The site has been dead for a while..but many other places have copied it and have it posted/mirrored/etc. Can google blackviper.com and find whatever links are current, if you need to find it down the road.

question, has anyone tried the other settings other than XP Prof default and Safe?

Im just wondering if there is anything that I should disable like it is listed or should I just leave as is?

It's been a long time since I've seen Black Viper's list. I've never used his guidelines. How about posting a link so I can see what's there?

I pretty familiar w/ what services I can turn off. Some depends on what apps you're planning to use.

The link has been posted :p

I've done the gaming one before, make a few screenshots of the list and try them, if it messes up thne just go back to the screenshots to fix it.

Keep all Vital ones :)
