DVD/CD Rom Drive

Post by binksfan »

I have DVD player that I have never had problems with til lately. Just drop in disc and it played. Audio, video, whatever....it brought up the correct player and played. Now it will still play audio and game discs but won't play DVD movies. When DVD is inserted the cursor flashes between my pointer and a pic of a disc but then stops, goes back to pointer and just sits there.
I have dumped the DVD from device mngr., rebooted, machine recognizes player and says 'this device is working properly'. Reloaded vid codecs, reloaded WinDVD (even tried the newer trial version), tried several of the video codec bundles but none of them will make DVD player recognize DVD disc. It still plays audio and games, just no DVD movies. All auto play boxes checked. Tech support says, 'just reload WinDVD'.....done that, several times with no luck. The version I have is so old it doesn't even show XP as an option. Win2K is latest op sys that the InterVideo disc shows when loading WinDVD (that's why I tried the free trial of newer version). No luck. Could the DVD player itself have gone tits up??? Weird, huh! Any other ideas?

Doesn't play at all. If I open WinDVD with the disc in the player and then click play button, I get the little pop up window that says, 'No disc in D: drive. Please insert disc and try again.'
