4.8 based Omega's are out.

As usual this is a great release with Doom3 optimizations and the IQ and stability many of us enjoy. :D

Instead of hotlinking them I'm gonna link to Angels (Omega) site. He's asking those who use his drivers to show support by clicking the one banner he has with each download. It's a simple request for all the effort he puts into his work. :2cool:

Sweet. I'll wait until tomorrow after I talk to you to install them. Have a problem with my SATA drives.

In a nutshell...I'm getting crappy performance from my SATA drives. I was getting 15MB speeds in HDTach so I did a repair of XP, installed the latest SATA drivers from Asus and I am now getting 89MB's on HDTach...but it's still far off from the SATA 150 spec. I don't know what to do. IMHO...my computer is screaming but the benches tell me that it's screaming for help lol.

BTW...I am not using RAID and will not because I need the space. I have two SATA drives each 120GB's.

I am now thinking that my 4KB cluster size is the culprit but I thought small cluster sizes would reduce slack space. Dunno. I'll chat with you tonight on the phone...at least you have a heads up. ;)

EDIT:

I think I know what the problem is. I'm running in PIO mode instead of UDMA 6 which is the SATA 150 spec.

I think I can fix this. Hopefully. :thumb:

How much are you realistically expecting? While SATA spec dictates the bus itself can handle up to 150, there are no hard drives out there now that can sustain even near that, add to that, depending how it's integrated into your mobo.
