ADSL Speed Hack Guide needed.

I heard from my friend that there is actually a speed hack method to hack an adsl connection from 512/128 to 1.5mbps above connection speeds.

So i am thinking whether the hack should be started from the registry or the ADSL modem router. Anybody got any idea how to do this?

1. I have downloaded everything.
2. Win XP Installed. It says that patch not for Win XP.
3. TCP options string = 020405780103030201010402
MTU = 1440
MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput.
MSS = 1400
MSS is not fully optimized for broadband (although it might work well for slower connections). Consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits (scale factor of 4)
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
515200 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 8)
257600 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 4)
128800 (MSS x 46 * scale factor of 2)
64400 (MSS x 46)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 53 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

4. DSL

5. ISP = http://www.dodo.com.au => 512/128 kbps
Average speed are not satisfactory, around 50 KB maximum for most of the time, i expect 64KB at most.

6. I am behind a ADSL Modem Router and should have no firewall installed.

The IP should be static since the connection is 24/7.
Well the other stuffs i don't quite understand, hope the infos are enough by the meantime.

The patch is for win98, your mtu is off it should be 1480 what make and model of router do you have???

I've add the MTU registry already.
The modem router i got apparently don't have a specific model number which is only named as Webexcel 4-port modem router.

Take another tcpip analyzer then let's see if mtu changed.

In interent explorer type 10.0.0.2 login username and password then click on wan change mru to 1492 mtu to 1492 and mss 1452

I've configured all the things but seem to get the same max download speed. Only 55KBps...

VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING

1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.

2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.

3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

4. Clear your temporary internet files.

5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.

6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot 1.2 & Ad Aware 6.0 to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES.

7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link.

8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it then visit Zonelabs.com for further instructions on removing it's left over junk.

9. Install Outpost Firewall or Sygate Firewall, both have FREE and Pro versions and are heads above ZA.

10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, AVG 6.0 is an excellent FREE AV app.

11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.

You didn't save to registry and reboot to take effect. There is NO WAY to make a 512 connection 1500, why would you even think that?

It is impossible, the only way to do this is with a Cable modem and uncapping it, which is ILLEGAL and you WILL get caught. It is not possible with DSL.

maybe he's just taking you for a ride and really has a faster subscription.

get the SG TCP Utility and tweak your settings using values suggested here and on the SG Analyzer... seems like you still have not done the proper tweaks as seen on your last post. hth!
