Question About The U.S. Moon Landing

Post by Prey521 »

OK, my GF is an astronomy buff and she told me that her astronomy teacher told her that Russia beat us to the moon and that they have a flag up there and everything. Now, I know that we beat Russia to the moon, but my question is, did Russia ever land on the moon? For some reason I can't recall if the Russians ever did. Her teacher sounds like she don't know what she is talkin about.

ya, I think only Americans have gone to the moon, with the Apollos......Apollo 11 being the one that arrived on the moon on July 29th, 1969.....

The Russians beat U.S in going to space, with Yuri Gugarin going there in 1963...and John Glenn soon after....

Actually, speaking of traveling to the moon, one of my friends saw this program on TV, saying that the whole thing was "rigged". Meaning that no one actually went to the moon, and that the whole thing was acted/filmed and this is what TV Viewers watched.

And my friend actually believes this, that no one has gone to the moon

He said the program on TV was every convincing....

their pulling the same stunt that they believe to be true of the moon landing

and that is to get viewers and an audiance, they just trying to get attention!

don't listen to them, Apollo 11 really DID go to the moon

ya know it's sad though, we couldn't go to the moon right now if we wanted to! We have the technology, but not the funds :(

the space program needs lots of more money, cause imagine the things we could do in space with the technology we have, I can quarentee you we have the tech to be living on the moon in a moon colony right now with the technology we have, the only problem is $$$$$$ dollar signs

ya, thas cuz NASA is focusing on the International Space Station......

I guess we could go to the moon, but NASA felt that they had sent enough apollos in the 60s and 70s to do research on the moon....

There is a Russian satellite that will be passing the spot where the US DID land, and will be taking pic's of it. Then we'll show all them skeptic idiots trying to shoot down the US moon landing. But knowing the Russians, they'll probably edit the pics so that nothing will show up.

Actually, the Russians technically did beat us to the moon if my memory serves me correct. They landed a craft on the moon before the Apollo mission (I'll try some research to verify), but it was humanless. So yes, technically they got something to the moon first, but we were the only ones to get people there.

Soviet Moon Landings

By my count they put 6 objects on the moon (most were uncontrolled impacts) before we put people on there. So technicaly the way your statement was phrased, Prey, then your girlfriends teacher was correct. Had the Russkies put people on before us, they most certainly would have let us known. Space accomplishments were widely touted back then. Great for propaganda.

It would be next to impossible to see it from Earth. Have any of you tried to look at the moon through a telescope, even at low powers? It burns the eyes. Not to mention the atmosphere won't let you get the proper resolution to focus on it. You would need a telescope in space to see it.

For all those peeps that actually believed all that nonsense that was said on that stupid Fox special, read this page. It is long, but it tells you the truth and breaks the lies that those fools had to say about the US Moon landing, which ACTUALLY did take place.

the reasons the russions never sent people to moon, acording to my teacher, is that its worse to go second and lose the battle than to never go.

either way the russion suck, lol jk

Brent,

I think the government should be more focused on taking care of us humans on earth before we go worrying about people living on the moon.

Alan Sheppard was the first American in space. Glenn was number two.

I thought the USSR did land on the moon. Though it may have been an unmanned flight.

Doncha think the Russians would have blown the whistle on the US if we had not really landed on the moon(with people)? That would have been a PR field day for their propaganda machine. I just don't see the Soviets/Russians letting the US get away with a trick like that.
