2 routers on same network, not working :(

Post by touser3 »

Hello all, last night i went out and bought a netgear WGR614 router. I bought it because it has 802.11g support and was $50 less then their access point, but i am trying to use it just as an access point. My question is, i already use a linux box for my router/firewall and its ip is 192.168.1.1, but for some reason it and the netgear don't get along at all, even though the netgear's default ip is 192.168.0.1. I got it setup so that the netgear will provide wireless network/internet to my laptops and they can see my existing network, but now i cannot get into the netgear router's setup page to turn on mac address filtering and WEP. Does anyone know of a solution for this? I guess my question is is do not know what the ip of the router is anymore so that i can get into the web configuration for it, because before i turn on my linux router the netgear's ip was 192.168.0.1, but after that the ip doesn't work. Thanks for any help in advance!

*edit*

I fixed the problem :)

The Access Point can be connected only by using a computer that it IP is 192.168.0.X

An IP 192.168.1.X can not can not to it.

After you connect the first time you can change the AP IP to your liking.
