56k Lag spikes on CS

I was just wondering.. is there any way to tweek my 56k modem.. i'm on lan through my bro's computer.. and wheni play cs .. sometimes it lag spikes up to 400 ping then back to 180 ping.. soo any way i can keep the ping stable??

probably not.. I cant think of any dial-up provider that isnt swammped... Thats basically normal for dial up anymore.

a few things you could do is make sure NOTHING is using the internet connection other than CS. such as spyware or the like

What is your ISP? When I was using Juno I would ping a stable 100-105 on westcoast servers and I would ping around 160-180 on eastcoast servers.
