Pioneer DVD-r 105 firmware update

Post by nepenthe »

Version 1.21
It has increased disk compatibility greatly. From what I have been told not all the bugs are out of the drive as of yet. Working 4X disks can be had at supermedia for 2.60 USD. The drive in Cendyne form can be had at Staples for 299 USD.

Evidently, the latest Sony firmware update has caused a small decrease in disk compatibilty (With regard to writing speed.)

According to our friend kila @ DVDWriters.co.uk, Mitsubishi has improved the power of the write laser which may allow 16X DVD writing within a year or two. Of course, we would be content to see 4X working properly right now.

I want to learn more and more to see as beautiful what is necessary in things; then I shall be one of those who make things beautiful. Amor fati: let that be my love henceforth! I do not want to wage war against what is ugly. I do not want to accuse; I do not even want to accuse those who accuse. Looking away shall be my only negation. And all in all and on the whole: some day I wish to be only a Yes-sayer.
