Has anybody tried star office? its ok but i would choose microsoft. With staroffice you can save it as a MS office file so you can open it up and edit anywhere. would be my #1 pick for an alternative.

well to begin with i turned on my pc this morning and some of my files were missing. My reg tweak settings so i know it wasnt a regbackup or a system restore and i havnt installed the updates for xp.

I want to get a black LCD moniter so i can hook up my xbox and ps2 to it. I want at least 17 inches and i also would need a vga box. And i guess i would need something to get audio so i want to hook up some computer speakers to it. If you guys can help me please do.

Whatever you do, don't install through usb. You could try using a new network card. The top two recomended ones here at sg seem to be the Linksys and intel nics. Try it and see if it helps. USB can only make things worse. Good luck.

The fan stopping and burning kinda worries me. How long do most fans last? btw this system is about 2 weeks old.

Sometimes i won't shut down for a while and sometimes not. What i'm wondering is if its bad to leave it on for more that 8 hours or so? Would it crash? Get unstable? or even catch the comp on fire? i got a surge protector if it helps.
