My 585i has worked like a clock for 6 months by now. I definetly recommend! I was very concerned because I hadn't heard about Thomson/Alcatel products and there were no reviews or discussion in forums etc. I haven't had to reset router ever because of crashes and so on. Even webconf works just fine.

Just got a 585(i)v6. Very good for what it does, setup was reasonably straight-forward except.....in their datasheets for the product they describe subscription based content filtering feature, which was one of the main reasons I bought. However, this feature is nowhere to be found on the web gui interface. The user manual also describes a menu option for this feature - and no such menu option is available. So Im rating this product as average. Bit of a letdown really.

I got this router as part of a package from Tiscali TV. For the TV side of things it works fine but i really do have to say this is the WORST router ive ever had. Its for ever changeing my settings on my xbox and ps3 to strict or type 3 for no reason whats so ever. If you plug say a laptop into the router it changes the NAT settings on my consoles back to strict again. Its awfull.

Also the software factory reset no longer works and also the hardware factory reset no longer works. ive had this router now for the best part of 8months and its ALWAYS messing up my home network.

I warn everyone to stay WELL away from this router, its utter Crap

hi just got this router as part of aol upgrade it was easy to set up and runs quite fast had no problems yet but cannot find out what the button on the frount is for ????
by anonymous - 2008-08-28 09:49
The button at the front turns the WLAN on and off. Just press and hold for a few seconds until the WLAN light goes on or off.

Hey Jeddahboy I have the same problem just wondering if you figured it out?

Extremely reliable and competent. I would reccomend this to anyone with a little bit of computer knowledge. it is a little complicated to administer for a novice but apart from that it's great!
by anonymous - 2008-11-13 18:45
I think the web address should be 192.168.1.254. Not 192.168.1.1.

The login is also Administrator not admin. Password is blank if not set.

i have the 585 but all lights are on and the wlan is orange but i cant find the wireless conection any one knows why ????
by col - 2008-12-10 01:08
the orange light on wlan indicates it is using WEP encryption, green is for WAP and red is no encryption.

Got this with AOL upgrade. Not a novice ride although once past the difficulties of setting up this has proved an excellent piece of equipment. Far better than Linksys.

I've got this router as part of AOL. Only three lights show:- the power, the ethernet and the WLAN so obviously can't het on the internet, is this a faulty router? Was working fine. Had about 2 years. The DSL and internet lights aren't green or red. Internet explorer says my DSL line is down, how do I fix this? Please help

im having problems with connecting my ps3 to the router,,,how do i get the DNS numbers?
by anonymous - 2009-01-30 09:57
Basically this router doesn't let any device such as Playstation 3 connect to it automatically, even with the right IP and WEP key, so it's a load of ^#@. Just to let you know what a waste of time it is.

I have this router also as part of a Tiscali TV Deal - This is one of the best routers, it has an easy navigating system - and it is easy to fix your NAT settings if you know how - simples - I say get it - If your looking for Top Security WPA-WSK or something more then I recommend that you DO NOT get this one, this is more of a Friendly home router where you know you wont be hacked by the odd neighbor.

For the person having trouble with his NAT Settings - I also have an xBox and I also get the occasional STRICT NAT - this is easily overcome able - Make sure that once you have fixed your NAT settings and done the xBox Live test to ensure it, that you don't have any power cuts or you turn off your router otherwise it will reset. If you do need help then please contact me through email (redhead2k8@tiscali.co.uk) and I will be glad to help you out through your Remote Assistance.

i have the same problem as above, i added another user and with a password and now evertime i try to go to 192.168.1.254 it pops up a password box and asks for the username and password, but when i enter my username and password it doesn't work, even i tried administrator without password it doesn't work so please help!!
by anonymous - 2009-05-05 05:26
Create a new user from the user management and set it as normal user (i think).

after done, switch to that username by entering the username you created and password. initial password is the username you created.

then change password to nothing and set that normal account to default.

You're done

Hey, anyone know how to change the existing password, once it's already set up?
