The Barricade g 2.4GHz 54Mbps Wireless Cable /DSL Broadband Router (SMCWBR14-G) provides a simple, all-in-one home/soho network product.

The router offers a 4-port 10/100 Mbps switch with Automatic MDI-MDIX feature, and a 802.11g wireless access point (up to 54Mbps) with security features that include
802.1x authentication, Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), MAC address filtering and 64/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP).

The SMCWBR14-G also includes a firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection, web-based network management and support for Virtual Private Network (VPN) pass-through

Get your facts right. This device does NOT offer WPA2 or AES encryption. The best it does is WPA with TKIP encryption.

I use mine solely as a wireless access point. With a decent antenna, especially a directional one, I have no problem getting 54Mbps.

I feel adequately secure using a 63 character random all-printing-characters passphrase.

As a wireless access point, this device is reliable and trouble free.
