Linksys WRT120N

details: Wireless-N Home Router
hardware type: Wireless Router
date added: 2009-07-30
updated: 2014-09-30
The WRT120N gives you a wireless connection that's twice the speed of Wireless-G. It supports WMM (QoS), WPS and has a built-in SPI firewall.

The Cisco/Linksys WRT120N uses Atheros SoC (system-on-chip), unlike many other Linksys routers that use Broadcom chips. Reportedly, Atheros is sometimes prone to a "stuck beacon" problem in their internal software that can be remedied by simply setting a large value (1000 milliseconds or more) for the "beacon" interval, and upgrading the firmware to the latest (version 1.0.06 or later). Changing the wireless mode to mixed B/G (turning off draft-N), disabling the firewall, and setting encryption to WPA can help if you are having problems with it as well.

This is a very good router and I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to have a nice firewall. However earlier releases of this router had an issue that caused a problem when trying to reset the router to default settings (the router would not be reset the normal). This has since been fixed by upgrading its firmware.

I hope this helps someone
