Drivers not installed

Formatted my other computer today (which doesn't have access to the internet), WinXP and for some reason about 6 devices aren't being recognized or installing drivers. They're listed under 'Other Devices' in the device manager, the most important being the sound card, and the rest being controllers ...

Just generally, is the Charter network handling the 3mb increase well? Lately my connection goes down often or slows down, so I was thinking that either they're having trouble with the traffic or it's a problem with my comp.

Thanks!

Outpost Firewall... newbie-friendly?

Since many seem to love this FW, I decided to try it out yesterday. First thoughts, it was visually nice and very simple/limited (good or bad thing?). Also, it was using the same 10mb of RAM as ZAP does... made me wonder why people say I should get rid of ZAP because it's a resource hog when these 2 ...

Nice, thanks a lot... yep, the DSLR test was inaccurate.

Now if only I can fix all of these disconnecting probs I'm having lately...

Over 10 minutes of using AIM or MSN, I get about 5 disconnects... same with gaming.

My ISP (Charter) upgraded the packages and now I am supposed to be getting 2mb/128k.

For some reason, after the upgrade, I am only getting about 60-70 kbps up when I speedtest.

People in my area are getting 120-130 as they should be, and I've tried some basic tweaking to my connection which didn't ...

Fake file... virus?

Hey all,

Lately I've been seeing this file 'msmsgs.exe' or something in the taskbar manager... I know that's the common name of the MSN file, but I'm completely sure it's not MSN. MSN is set completely off and customized not to auto-start.

However, this file keeps starting by itself, even after I ...

XP Hangs at Shutdown

Hey everyone...

I recently installed WinXP SP1 and have encountered an annoying problem... about half of the time when I shut down, it just hangs at the desktop screen.

Usually it takes like 20 secs or so then goes to the light blue 'Saving your settings' screen then shuts down.

Sometimes, I have ...

I'm kinda surprised too, but I'm pretty sure those are the specs (big rip-off, though... a 1.5 DL connection around here is like 129 bucks... I'll be so happy if Charter gets kicked)
