Drivers not installed

Post by Simulate030 »

Formatted my other computer today (which doesn't have access to the internet), WinXP and for some reason about 6 devices aren't being recognized or installing drivers. They're listed under 'Other Devices' in the device manager, the most important being the sound card, and the rest being controllers of different sorts.

I'm sure everything is there because they all worked before the format (including sound), but I'm not sure what to do now. Formatted a second time, and I have the same dilemma. I'm not much of a computer wiz, so I'd certainly appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.

-edit... btw, I didn't build the computer (it was store-bought and no longer being made so I can't find a list of its components)

You need to either be online or have a cd from the manufacturer with all the drivers. When you get internet access just download all the drivers from the manufacturers website to make sure you have all the latest ones.

If you need help identifying your hardware in order to get the proper drivers give Everest Diagnostics a go.
It can tell you the name and manufacturer for most hardware.
