ok i have heard some good things about Linksys BEFSR41

but i have a dynamic ip, and also i am using a sygate firewall and i like the control eg opening specific ports and closing spcific ports (which i belive you cant do in it).

which would be a good switch/firewall that provides really good ...

never mind fixed it.

any way if others have the same problem.

turned out the places i was having problems were places they used come for of security like SSL

i looked at my advance options and ssl 2.0 and ssl 3.0 were unticked.

so i enabled them and everything works fine :)

my netstats page for example with optusnet.

i cant access it in IE6 it says dns error

but i cant access it perfectly in opera browser

i am not sure when this started but it could have after installing opera or rather naviscope although i cant be for sure cause before installing i didnt really ...

forgetfull you were 100% correct the pio mode was the problem..

i deleted the drive and reinstalled and it didnt fix it..

i went to my motherboards site MSI and few others were having similar problems and a lot of people said instead of deleted the actual drive and reinstalling it deleted the ...

well i got no idea how to change it back to dma i have tried everything short of uninstalling the drive and reinstalling and reinstalling windows...

i read the manual i couldnt find anything usefull...cause its trouble shoot suggests i have had this prob since i installed the drive which isnt true ...

yup cd to cd and disk to cd :( both..

it dont work at 12X but it does at 8X ot 4X...

i went to device manager and in the IDE ATA/Atapi controllers
there is
primary channel (hard disk)
secondary channel (dvd and cdrw)
via bus master IDE controller

in secondary channel in advanced settings i set ...

my drive all of a sudden cant burn at 12X but burns perfectly at 8X last time i burnt about 2 weeks ago it worked perfectly..

must be something i installed...not sure waht though...havent installed anyother burning program except incd which is by nero anyway..oh well reinstall of windows it is ...

well i have enables dms but my cdrw doesnt support it..

my cdrw has a 4mb buffer and everything was working ok two weeks ago.... with 256mb ram :)

i think its something to do with a curropt file one of the dll'd that nero doesnt uninstall..although i never rebooted after uninstalling :P i might ...

the thing about dma though i dont know how to turn it on for the cd rom drive i have set it in the device manager but i dont think my cdr support it :( not certain..

I am on Verizon DSL and uses PPOoE. My verizon says i should be able to get 768/128

doesnt that mean his caps are 96/16

I normally can never get a download over 90k, and a upload over 15k but here are my speed tests:

so wouldnt these download sped be pretty accuarte?

i applied the tweak suggested by mnosteele52 and calculated my rwin by doing ten tests at sqeakeasy and using the calculator i put in the speed and also i pinged each of the servers and entered that as the lantency since i live in australia most american sites will be slower any way..i found my rwin ...

telstra is alo max speed according to whirpool telstra and optus have their download speeds as MAX

but what is max :( trying to twaeak that rwin value but i have to multi ply the download speed with 1024 to find the default receive window...

oh no there is a limit :)

for me until next year its something like 20GB in a month

but after march next year i will be capped at 3gb per month :( $10 cheaper (ripoff) ie 79.95per moth now for 20gb a month

next year 69.95 a month for 3gb :(

according to my isp there is no download cap in place (speed cap)


yet that higest i can seem to get is around500-600kb on a good day :(

of internatoinal servers i get maybe 300k on a good day (this is kbytes/s not kbps

well after the update i did update the nvidia drivers and they worked perfectly...i insalled the nvidia detonator drivers and it worked...so it wasnt the actual install i dont think..i will try to do the repair..anyone know how long it takes?

well i have a prob :P..

hen ever i try to install any driver waht so ever i get the so called blue scree of death :) ie the pc stops and is ment to restart but i turned that featur off...

this happends when ever i install a driver or try to update a driver....the driver is correct i am sure of it ...
