i recently upgraded my old slow Mitsumi 4X CDRW burner to a Sony 40X12X48 CDRW drive.
previously i had Nero version 5.5.5.1 when using the mitsumi drive and it worked just fine. no problems at all.
i installed my new Sony CDRW drive and Nero 5.5.5.1 does not recognize the drive...no big deal right? wrong!....
i donwloaded and tried installing nero 5.5.9.0 and 5.5.9.9 thinking it would recognize the drive and i'm sure it does but nero will not load at all now.
i'm running Windows XP Pro. and if i click on the nero icon i get nothing. if i click it again i get this:
now i have tried installing and re-installing Nero many many times. and i even formated my HD (i was due for a drive format anyway) and did a fresh windws install and it still does the same thing.
i also have CDRWIN 3.9B installed and that works just fine. no problems.....for some reason nero is conflicting with something but i cant figure out what.................can anyone help me out?
Try uninstalling all your burning software. Reboot...then uninstall burner in control panel and reboot.....Let XP do it's thing, and do all your upgrades for your burners...then try installing your latest versions of Nero....
If you have a playlist for media player it may be this trying to reserve the writer for use using XP's own built in software. Try removing the playlist and see what happens.
First, go into your startup control. Turn off everything related to burner.
Then, if you see that warning... simply go into control/alt/del and end the imapi task.
it's THAT simple. I have tha version of nero, plus I have roxio installed. I also have three other burning programs installed and they all work together fine.
Did you go to the NERO site and look under supported recorders to see what version of NERO supports your model? I know when I bought My new CDRW that I had to get different versions of nero, cdrwin and adaptec the others didnt recognize it.
