I can't believe that I have the answer to this one
You'll have to install the right Codec. I had the same problem when I was "previewing" some movies. The smr-patch fixed it for me.

One of my drives, which contain loads of data, have become... missing. Whenever I click on it, XP asks me if I want to format. If I look it up under partition magic, it says that it's unallocated space. I don't want to format nor create another partition until I retrieve the data. Does anyone know a ...

I'm proud to say that I'm actually learning a little about linux. After SEVERAL installs, I've figured how to do some things (i.e. log in as "root").
Anyhow, I finally found an rpm, but when I try to install (am using Red Hat 8.0, now) it says that "a newer version of the package is already ...

linux and winxp network
Is it possible to network two computers, one with XP (internet) and the other with linux?
I'm experimenting with Red Hat 8.0 and am wondering if it's easy to set up. Both computers are set up with wireless network, but have NIC cards for backup.
thanks

Well, I screwed up my network connections and couldn't figure out how to fix it. So what did I do? I tried to clean install XP Pro. Unfortunately, everytime I reach the setup window, I get a message that some files couldn't be copied. I think it could either be that I have a bad copy of XP (if you ...

can't connect to internet using Mandrake 9.0
Just installed Mandrake 9.0. With the rumors of the ease of installation, I thought I would give it a try. It took several hours as the CDs that I burned didn't work. I worked around this by using a floppy with hd.img and installing from the hard drive.

Thanks in advance. I have skynet.be DSL and must dial in to get a connection. I've tried all sorts of RWINs, but can't seem to get it right. Maybe I'm missing numbers somewhere else.

I partitioned 2 gigs for XP. From a clean install, it took about 750 MB. I turned off system restore, installed office, photoshop 6 and a few small programs. It's been about three months and now I only have 7 MB left. I cleaned out temp files. Is there something else I should do?

Hi,
I partitioned 3 Gigs just for XP. It was a fresh install and I haven't installed any proggies yet. So far, it says that I have already used up 2250 MB. How can this be. I turned off all the paging and System Restore. Is there another trick before I reformat and install?
