data recovery software

Post by puhbare »

One of my drives, which contain loads of data, have become... missing. Whenever I click on it, XP asks me if I want to format. If I look it up under partition magic, it says that it's unallocated space. I don't want to format nor create another partition until I retrieve the data. Does anyone know a good program to do such a thing? I have a copy of a software (name I forgot), but unfortunately, it's in the drive with the problem :rotfl:

thanks in advance

You could try Drive Rescue.....are your drives in NTFS or Fat32?

Here's a link...

I've used Ontrack Easy Recovery Professional 6.0 on several screwed NTFS drives as well as RAID drives that were hosed. It has several different types of recoveries including one that attempts a raw data recovery no matter what file system, or you can even format an entire drive full of data and then still go back and retrieve the data AFTER the format.. NTFS, FAT32, Linux, whatever..
