Back to RC2

Post by puhbare »

Well, I screwed up my network connections and couldn't figure out how to fix it. So what did I do? I tried to clean install XP Pro. Unfortunately, everytime I reach the setup window, I get a message that some files couldn't be copied. I think it could either be that I have a bad copy of XP (if you know what I mean) or that my CDRom spins so fast that it heats up the disk. I don't know. All this b/c I couldn't setup my wireless network properly :(

BTW, what exactly did you need help with, or are you just venting?

Try some CD cleaner.

Format the hard drive first.

You can also copy the i386 dir to the HD first and run the install from the HD instead of the CD.

If you decide to try it, I'll find a nice link for you to help you with a step by step.

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure what I needed help with. suggestions, I guess. I ended up installing an slower CDRom and had no problem installing after that.

Am now back on the Pro :)
