I am paying for and is limited to 1000 kbps. Is there someone here who can help me get 2000 kbps without me paying my ISP for the higher speed? Hahaha...

Which country are you in?

We hope to achieve up to 90% of the speed we pay to get from our ISP when we use TCP Optimizer. This is for browsing and also downloading.

Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU 1500
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 26280
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - uncheck
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 4
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 8
LocalPriority - 1
Host Priority - 1
DNSPriority - 1
NetbtPriority - 1
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect

After reboot, test your speed at this link using the recommended test server:

You can go to this link to calculate the settings for Cablenut:

http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php

One word of advice: leave the field for DefaultReceiveWindow blank if your OS is XP SP2.

You use your ISP given speed for download and upload, not the results from speedtests.

For latency, use the highest latency value of the speedtest results at the test server(s) of the country you surf to most frequently.

Yes, you probably used 660ms for latency and the calculator gives TCP Window as 32120.

This latency value is helpful data for tweaking connections in your country.

You can try 4,4 or 4,8 or 8,8 and 8,10 to see which helps your browser to load fastest. For low broadband speed we use 4,4 and for high speed we use 10,20. So you will have to find the one that serves you best.

If yours is a cable service, likely speed is 384/384 kbps bothways.

Then the browser will be trying to load too many things at the same time, thus the web page will form slowly.

Note: this setting only applies to the IE browser.

TCP Window (RWIN) = Broadband Speed x Latency divided by 8

If you use too high a RWIN, your speed will slow down if your signal suffers packet damage or losses.

RWIN should also be an even multiple of MSS.

26280 = 384 x 547.5 / 8 and is an even multiple of 1460 (1460 x 18).

I first use TCP Optimizer to tweak and then use Cablenut but some values that I have used in TCP Optimizer will be maintained when using Cablenut such as:

TCP Receive Window = GlobalMaxTCPWindowSize and TCPWindowSize
TimetoLive (TTL) = 64
DefaultToSValue = 80

Remember DefaultReceiveWindow has to be blank when your OS is XP SP2 as in this OS, any value entered will override TCP Receive Window.

The recommended values of TCP Optimizer are 5,6,7,8 and the documentation suggests to maintain Windows' original intention to have them run in that order of priority. Thus Cablenut and TCP Optimizer have the same recommendations (use small whole numbers and in that order).

But I find web loading faster with 1,1,1,1.

I don't understand the speed test that i89WipeR shows after tweaking. It shows over 6 Mbs with a latency of 639 ms but a RWIN of only 32120. How is this possible?
Thanks.....John

This can sometimes happen in speedtest due to caching. The same test file was sent by the test server and if either the web proxy server or the browser already has that file in cache memory, that file will be transferred from cache memory and not from the test server, thus a faster file transfer speed.
