Movie suggestions?

Post by Humboldt »

Heading out in about 20 minutes to return DVD's and might as well pick up some more.

What's good, not new release but within the past year or so?

LOL, watched Jack Nicholson's "The Pledge" last night, om my what a bad movie. The plot could've worked but...didn't.

And the ending was HORRIBLE!

Thanks for the ideas, I'll be sure to look at those next time I'm there (just got back). I've heard other people recommend some of them too so they must be pretty good.

Rules of Engagement is a great movie, I also heard 3000 milkes to graceland was good. I heard thin red line sucked(but that's just what I heard).

Just finished watching Rules of Engagement.

Pretty damn good, I enjoyed watching it. Didn't go quite where I thought it would but that's fine. Overall I thought it was well written, well shot, and well acted (I loved Tommy Lee Jones but he just didn't look like a 20 year old in the Vietnam shots, even with his face painted up and wearing a slouch hat pulled low...heh, he looked like a 55 year old trying to look like a 20 year old).

Was it actually an English flick or just had English characters?

Great movie, I agree. I liked LS&2SB better at first but after watching it a few more times I'm equally impressed.

Depends who you ask I guess. :p

If was filmed in the UK with a mostly British cast and crew. It came out in Britain a few months before the US release. But it was filmed for Columbia pictures (Sony), most likely for a planned US release after Lock Stock became a cult hit.

So...I guess you could call it a British production of a movie intended for a US release, and funded by a Japanese company. :p

Yup.

Railroad...Tsavo lions, slowed down the construction of the railroad...

In reality I'm pretty sure it was only one hunter though...Jim Douglas rings a bell (an article on them in one of my books somewhere) but I could be totally off on the name.

Chief engineer Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson finally succeeded in killing the murderous pair.

Here's a picture of the 2 actual "maneaters" that he killed...and that were responsible for the 140 or so killings:

Ummm, :D :D didn't I just name them as Tsavo lions and why they created such an uproar (railroad). I know it's based on a true story. :p

The only reason I'm reiterating this that you quoted me as agreeing with you, then tried to convince me some more :D
