Here's My Info :

Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

My Average download speed is 59 kb/s after doing the tests and my operating system is Windows XP Home Edition

welcome to speedguide.net first if you haven't already download and run the sg optimizer you can get at http://www.speedguide.net. Select cable modem on top and optimal on the bottom apply chages and repost with the analyzer reasualts just like u did the post before

Also do you know your cap rate how bytes down and up? if not don't worry about it.

What were your upstream/downstream speeds before and after you changed the RWIN value?

Here is an average one :

2002-06-26 15:55:08 EST: 489 / 104

A 59.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 104275 bps, or 104 kbps

The average transfer rates havent seem to have changed before and after the details were changed on the sg optimizer and apart from one click to 'optimal' on the program i havent done anything manually

Although i did download and add to the registry the patch for windows xp

It's better than 56K, but it's still far short of decent cable speeds.

I'm sure that Mnosteele, Lobo, and the others will help you improve on that.

It looks like your caps are 512 down, if so a RWIN of 256960 is way too high for that connection. Please read "My Tips" in my sig and try the suggestions. Then download the TCPOptimizer and try the following:

Settings tab:

select - DSL
check - custom settings
network adapter selection - your NIC
check modify all adapters
maxmtu - 1500
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 8760/11680/14600/18980/24820/30660
MTU Discovery - yes
Black Hole Detect - no
Selective Acks - yes
Max Dup ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options - uncheck both boxes*
(* if using TCP Receive Window of 65535 or higher check windows scaling)

Other Settings tab:

Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
Lan Browsing Speedup - optimized

Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect.

If your capped downstream speed is 512 Kbps, and you're getting 490 Kbps, you're almost at cap, so you won't get much more improvement. Follow Mnosteele's and Lobo's advice though. If they can't get you at the best speed you can get, pretty much noone else can.

Some more useless (?) information :

if i ctrl + alt + del and then click networking is says i am using under 0.5 % of the local area network, i am using a motorola surfboard cable modem but also have a lead that can be used instead of the thing currently being used that resembles the same lead as a phone uses currently going into a port on the cable modem called 'link act 100' the other lead (not being used) goes into a port called 'usb'

Shall i plug it in O.o ?

goto http://www.speeguide.net download the the tcpoptiumizer after it's down. run that file click on cabel modem on top and custom and the bottom there you change you rwin. your mtu will be 1500 also for rwin higher then 6553 click on window scaling under tcpopts.

ok i dl the SG TCP Optimizer clicked on cable at the top <IM ON DSL THOUGH NOT CABLE?) clicked on custom at the bottom..

and then i see the following things

i still am not seing anything that says change my RWIN or whatever

My ISP Caps are 1500kbps down / 256kbps up

A current test shows:

can someone help me out here i have never seen 1442 on a max 1500 thats pretty amazing

as i posted in another forum i never get higher then 1350 except last night i got like 1369 but for the most part everytim i run speed test i get around the following

i just changed my RWIN to 27740 and ran 10 speed tests from 2wire and the fastest i got was below
